acquiesce
acquiesce (v.) 1610s, from M.Fr. acquiescer (16c.), from L. acquiescere "to become quiet, remain at rest," thus "be satisfied with," from ad- "to" (see AD- (Cf. ad-)) + quiescere "to become quiet," from quies (gen. quietis) "rest, quiet" (see QUIET (Cf. quiet) (n.)).
