amenity (n.) late 14c., "quality of being pleasant or agreeable," from O.Fr. amenite, from L. amoenitatem (nom. amoenitas) "delightfulness, pleasantness," from amoenus "pleasant," perhaps related to amare "to love" (see AMY (Cf. Amy)).
