presbycousis (n.) "loss of hearing acuteness due to age," 1890, Modern Latin, from Gk. presbys "old man" (see PRESBYTERIAN (Cf. Presbyterian)) + akousis "hearing," from akouein "to hear" (see ACOUSTIC (Cf. acoustic)).
