Mishnaic (adj.) 1718, "of or belonging to the Mishnah," the collection of oral law which forms the basis of the Talmud, from Hebrew, lit. "repetition, instruction," from shanah "to repeat," in post-Biblical Hebrew "to teach or learn (oral tradition)."
