egress

egress
egress 1530s, from L. egressus "a going out," lit. pp. of egredi "go out," from ex- "out" (see EX- (Cf. ex-)) + -gredi, comb. form of gradi "step, go" (see GRADE (Cf. grade)). Perhaps a back formation from egression (early 15c.).
