disorder

disorder
disorder (v.) late 15c., from dis- "not" (see DIS- (Cf. dis-)) + the verb order (see ORDER (Cf. order)). Replaced earlier disordeine (mid-14c.), from O.Fr. desordainer, from M.L. disordinare "throw into disorder," from L. ordinare "to order, regulate" (see ORDAIN (Cf. ordain)). Related: Disordered; disordering. The noun is recorded from 1520s, from the verb.
