cursive
cursive 1784, from Fr. cursif (18c.), from M.L. cursivus "running," from L. cursus "a running," from pp. of currere "to run" (see CURRENT (Cf. current)). The notion is of "written with a running hand" (without raising the pen), as opposed to UNCIAL (Cf. uncial).
