circumvolve (v.) 1640s, from L. circumvolvere "to roll round, revolve," from circum- (see CIRCUM- (Cf. circum-)) + volvere "to turn around, roll" (see VULVA (Cf. vulva)). Related: Circumvolved; circumvolving.
