unfeeling (adj.) late O.E., "having no sensation," from UN- (Cf. un-) (1) "not" + feeling (see FEEL (Cf. feel) (v.)). Meaning "devoid of kindly or tender feelings" is recorded from 1590s. Related: Unfeelingly.
