Ambrose
Ambrose masc. proper name, from L. Ambrosius, from Gk. ambrosios "immortal, belonging to the immortals" (see AMBROSIA (Cf. ambrosia)). The Ambrosian Library in Milan is named for Saint Ambrose (d.397), bishop of Milan.
