Samaritan
Samaritan O.E., "inhabitant of Samaria," a district of Palestine, from L.L. Samaritanus, from Gk. Samareia (see SAMARIA (Cf. Samaria)). Figurative use with reference to the good Samaritan is first recorded 1630s, from Luke x:33.
