proclamation (n.) late 14c., "act of making public," also "that which is proclaimed;" from O.Fr. proclamacion and directly from L. proclamationem (nom. proclamatio), noun of action from pp. stem of proclamare (see PROCLAIM (Cf. proclaim)).
