Nazareth
Nazareth town in Lower Galilee, childhood home of Jesus, from Heb. Natzerath, of unknown origin, perhaps a corruption of Gennesaret "Sea of Galilee." An obscure village, not named in the Old Testament or contemporary rabbinical texts.
