feverish (adj.) late 14c., "causing fever;" 1630s, "excited;" 1640s, "having symptoms of fever," from FEVER (Cf. fever) + -ISH (Cf. -ish). Earlier in same sense was feverous (late 14c.). Related: Feverishly; feverishness.
