Frenchify 1590s, from FRENCH (Cf. French) + -IFY (Cf. -ify). Usually contemptuous (e.g. Richardson in his introduction to "Pamela," beseeching the editor not to "Frenchify our English solidity into froth and whip-syllabub"). Related: Frenchified; Frenchifying.
