doublespeak 1957, from DOUBLE (Cf. double) + SPEAK (Cf. speak), coined on model of DOUBLETHINK (Cf. doublethink) in Orwell's “Nineteen Eighty-Four” (the language in that book was NEWSPEAK (Cf. Newspeak)).
