daily (adj.) O.E. dæglic (see DAY (Cf. day)). This form is known from compounds: twadæglic "happening once in two days," þreodæglic "happening once in three days;" the more usual O.E. word was dæghwamlic, also dægehwelc. Cognate with Ger. täglich.
